STROKE~ wind and micro acupuncture on fingers!

WIND stroke considered to be an emergency may be manifested by falling down in a fit with loss of consciousness or hemiplegia, with symptoms such as slurred speech, deviated mouth. It can be categorized by abrupt onset with pathological changes varying quickly like wind, from which the term ‘wind stroke’ comes. Wind energy itself is not painful symptoms as pain is result of the contraction. When wind is mild, predictable, it belongs to Yin, can be considered Yin wind stroke.  But, when wind is strong, unpredictable, short in duration like a typhoon or tornado, it belongs to Yang, accordingly can be differentiated.

WIND stroke often occurs in aged who are in poor health, with deficiency of vital energy and blood, or deficiency in lower part of the body and excess in upper part. It may be caused by deficiency of kidney due to sexual indulgence or by irregular food intake, which impedes the transportation and transformation function of spleen, leading to production of phlegm from accumulated dampness and transformation into heat. It may impede imbalance of Yin and Yang. Other causative factors are exasperation, agitation, alcohol indulgence or overeating, over strain and stress or invasion of exogenous pathogenic wind, all leading to upsurge of Yang liver and heart fire which makes vital energy and blood go upward together with turbid phlegm, disturbing mind and resulting in this disease.

In mild cases there are only symptoms showing dysfunction of meridians and collateral’s, while in severe cases both dysfunction of organs and meridians are manifested.
Tense syndrome results from disturbance of mind by phlegm heat or collection of excessive fire in heart and liver while flaccid deficiency syndrome results from deficiency of vital energy or collapse of kidney yang. In untreated or improperly treated cases, tense syndrome tends to become flaccid and prognosis is often poor.

Tense syndrome– Main manifestations: falling down in a fit with loss of consciousness, tightly closed hands and clenched jaws, flushed face, coarse breathing, rattling in throat, retention of urine, constipation, red tongue with thick yellow or dark grey coating, string-taut, rolling and forceful pulse.Wind stirred up by upsurge of liver yang sends vital energy and blood upwards, which together with accumulated phlegm fire disturb the mind, leading to sudden loss of consciousness with tightly closed hands and clenched jaws, flushed face, coarse breathing, retention of urine and constipation. Excessive wind phlegm brings about rattling in throat, red tongue with thick yellow coating or dark grey coating, string-taut, rolling and forceful pulse are signs of wind combined with phlegm fire.

Flaccid syndrome– Main manifestations: falling down in a fit and sudden loss of consciousness with mouth agape and eyes closed, snoring but feeble breathing, flaccid paralysis of limbs, incontinence of urine, flaccid tongue, thready, weak pulse and in severe cases cold limbs or flushing of face as rouged, fading or big floating pulse.Severe weakness of primary vital energy, separation of Yin-Yang and exhaustion of energy indicates mouth agape, eyes closed, snoring but feeble breathing, flaccid paralysis, and incontinence of urine. flaccid tongue and thready weak pulse suggest the deficiency of blood and prostration of the kidney yang. If complicated with cold limbs, flushed face, fading or big floating pulse, it is a critical case, indicating exhaustion of Yin in lower portion of body and upward going of isolated Yang.

There are two categories, one is that only meridians and collaterals are attacked without organs being involved. Other is that after wind stroke function of affected organs have been restored, yet there exists stagnation of vital energy and blood in meridians.

Main manifestations: Hemiplegia, numbness of limbs, deviated mouth, slurring of speech, accompanied by headache, dizziness, vertigo, twitching of muscles, red eyes and flushed face, thirst, dryness of throat, irritability, string taut and rolling pulse.

Analysis: wind phlegm enters the meridians due to imbalance of Yin-Yang, causing retarded circulation of vital energy and blood. Hence appears hemiplegia, numbness of limbs, deviated mouth and slurred speech. It complicated with up surging of liver yang and upward disturbance of wind yang, the symptoms are headache, dizziness, vertigo and twitching of muscles. If there is excessive fire in heart and liver, there may be red eyes and flushed face, thirst, dryness of throat and irritability. Stagnation of wind phlegm leads to a string taut and rolling pulse.

Anxiety; Heart attack can cause intense anxiety or a fear of death; survivors often talk about having experienced a sense of impending doom.
Chest discomfort; Pain in chest is classic symptom of heart attack, and first symptom that we typically look for, but not all heart attacks cause chest pain, and chest pain can stem from ailments that have nothing to do with heart. Heart related chest pain is often centered under breastbone, perhaps a little to left of center. The pain has been likened to “an elephant sitting on chest,” but it can also be an uncomfortable sensation of pressure, squeezing, or fullness. It’s not unusual for women to describe pain as minor ache. Women more so than men can also experience a burning sensation in their chest, rather than a pressure or pain. Sometimes people make mistake that pain comes from a stomach problem.
Cough; Persistent coughing or wheezing can be a symptom of heart failure~ a result of fluid accumulation in the lungs. In some cases, people with heart failure cough up bloody phlegm.
Dizziness; Heart attacks can cause lightheadedness and loss of consciousness. So, can potentially dangerous heart rhythm abnormalities have known as arrhythmias.
Fatigue; Especially among women, unusual fatigue can occur during heart attack as well as in the days and weeks leading up to one. And feeling tired all the time may be a symptom of heart failure. Of course, you can also feel tired or fatigued for other reasons. How can you tell heart-related fatigue from other types of fatigue! If you don’t feel well and all the wind is knocked out of your sails, don’t try to figure it out on internet or from a book, as wasting time is dangerous.
Nausea; It’s not uncommon for people to feel sick to their stomach or throw up during a heart attack. And abdominal swelling associated with heart failure can interfere with appetite.
Pain in other parts of body; In many heart attacks, pain begins in chest and spreads to shoulders, arms, elbows, back, neck, jaw, or abdomen. But sometimes there is no chest pain; just pain in these other body areas. The pain might come and go. Men having a heart attack often feel pain in the left arm. In women, the pain is more likely to be felt in both arms, or between the shoulder blades.
Rapid or irregular pulse; Doctors say that there’s nothing worrisome about an occasional skipped heartbeat. But a rapid or irregular pulse ~ especially when accompanied by weakness, dizziness, or shortness of breath can be evidence of a heart attack, heart failure, or an arrhythmia. Left untreated, some arrhythmias can lead to stroke, heart failure, or sudden death.
Shortness of breath; People who feel winded at rest or with minimal exertion might have a pulmonary condition like asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). But breathlessness could also indicate a heart attack or heart failure. Sometimes people having a heart attack don’t have chest pressure or pain but feel extremely short of breath. It’s like they’ve just run a marathon when they haven’t even moved. During a heart attack, shortness of breath often accompanies chest discomfort, but it can also occur before or without chest discomfort.
Sweating; Breaking out in a cold sweat is a common symptom of heart attack. You might just be sitting in a chair when all of a sudden you are really sweating like you had just worked out.
Swelling; Heart failure can cause fluid to accumulate in the body. This can cause swelling (often in feet, ankles, legs, or abdomen) as well as sudden weight gain and sometimes a loss of appetite.
Weakness; In days leading up to a heart attack, as well as during one, some people experience severe, unexplained weakness. Men and women have different symptoms, but both may have pain, pressure, or discomfort in the chest. Other symptoms include shortness of breath, sweating, fainting, and nausea. You may also have pain in the neck, jaw, or shoulders. Men are more likely to break out in a cold sweat and feel pain move down the left arm during a heart attack.
PREVENTION; To avoid congestive heart failure, you must prevent the various forms of heart disease that lead to it. To prevent coronary heart disease, currently practiced measures to prevent cardiovascular disease include:

  • DIET~ low fat, high-fiber diet including whole grains and plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables
  • EAT~ a healthy, balanced diet, control your blood pressure and cholesterol level, eat plenty of fruits, veggies, and whole grains to keep arteries healthy
  • EXERCISE~ increase daily activity to 20 minutes of vigorous exercise per day at least five times per week
  • Limit alcohol consumption to the recommended daily limits consumption of one standard drink per day, as excessive intake increases the risk of cardiovascular disease
  • PRESSURE~ keep blood pressure in control
  • Routine counseling of adults to recommend them to improve their diet and increase their physical activity has not been found to significantly alter behavior, and thus is not recommended.
  • STRESS~ decrease psychosocial stress, it however plays a relatively minor role in hypertension
  • Taking a daily aspirin helps some people prevent a heart attack. Talk to your doctor to see if it’s right for you. Find positive ways to manage stress.
  • Tobacco cessation and avoidance of second-hand smoke. If you smoke, stop. It will immediately cut chances of a heart attack by a third.
  • WEIGHT~ decrease body fat if overweight or obese, maintain a normal body weight

Some congestive heart failure cannot be prevented. The American Heart Association recommends 150 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise per week.
TREATMENT of congestive heart failure focuses on lessening symptoms, decreasing hospitalizations and improving life expectancy. To accomplish these goals, doctor will advise a low-salt diet and medication ‘per conventional medicine’. The treatment can differ depending on the type of heart failure.

CYST and micro acupuncture

write  connect

A structure filled with liquid or semi-solid matter that could form anywhere in body when a hollow structure is prevented from draining or collection of fluid becomes surrounded by a wall of connective tissue. A cyst is a closed sac, having distinct membrane and division compared to nearby tissue. It’s a cluster of cells that have grouped together to form a sac (not unlike the manner in which water molecules group together, forming a bubble); however, distinguishing aspect of a cyst is cells forming the ‘shell’ of such a sac are distinctly abnormal in both appearance and behavior when compared to all surrounding cells for that given location. It may be filled with air, fluids, gases or liquids and semisolid substances such as tissue debris or other materials. The outer wall of cyst is called the capsule. A collection of pus is called an abscess, not a cyst. Sometimes a formed cyst may resolve on its own.
Examples are such as ~

  • Acne cyst associated with inflammatory nodule with or without an associated epidermis inclusion cyst
  • Breast cyst
  • Cervix cyst
  • Dermoid cyst (ovaries, testes, many other locations from head to tailbone)
  • Epidermal cyst (found in vessels attached to testes)
  • Fallopian tube cyst
  • Ganglion cyst (hand/ foot joints and tendons)
  • Gartner’s duct cyst (vaginal or vulvar cyst of embryological origin)
  • Glial cyst (in brain)
  • Liver cystic disease
  • Mucoid cyst (ganglion cysts of the digits)
  • Ovarian cyst (ovaries, functional and pathological)
  • Peritoneal cyst (lining of abdominal cavity)
  • Pineal gland cyst
  • Poly-cystic ovary syndrome
  • Popliteal cyst (behind knee-joint)
  • Renal cyst (kidneys)
  • Skin infection near tailbone
  • Tarlov cyst (spine)
  • Vocal fold cyst and parasitic cysts (formed when parasites such as amoebae and tapeworms infest certain organs)

Cysts may develop in body through a variety of processes, including:

  • Wear and tear or simple obstructions to flow of fluid
  • Infections
  • Tumors
  • Chronic inflammatory conditions
  • Genetic conditions, and defects in developing organs in embryo.

Cysts are mostly benign but may cause concern if they are seen or felt for example skin or breast cysts and may cause symptoms if they become infected or large enough to cause pressure on or obstruction or displacement of adjacent body parts.
Living with emotional issues causes chronic disease, which may further cause fear, anxiety, depression, and stress to aggravate the syndromes. So, be more open, positive attitude. Lifestyle too matters a lot, better to practice good self-care and follow a healthy lifestyle. An important part of a healthy lifestyle is following a healthy diet. A healthy diet includes a variety of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains.
Other lifestyle measures include:

  • Avoid sweets and soda.
  • Doing chest physical therapy to improve oxygen level
  • Exercising regularly and drinking lots of fluids
  • Not smoking and avoiding tobacco smoke
  • Washing your hands often to lower risk for infection

TriOrigin ‘color not only effective as a primary modality, it also plays a vital role as an adjunctive therapy due to how effective meridian system is to proper diagnosis. Meridians influence every cell in body and pass through every organ and organ system; it provides health practitioners with an exact and noninvasive means of determining health deficiencies, as well as a method of reestablishing balance. It provides most cyst+benefits without the dangerous side effects associated with many of the approaches of conventional medicine. While acupuncture represents a legacy of concepts that predate western civilization, as a contemporary health care system it also represents a synthesis of continuously evolving scientific and technological developments that provides us with new tools to meet current clinical challenges. An important aspect is that it allows considering an individual characteristic of the patient manifested in his/her own energy constitution. This brings about an effective action on the very origin of disease.
