osteoarthritis

Osteoarthritis is a condition in which cartilage that protects, and cushions joints breaks down over time. Eventually, bones formerly separated by cartilage rub against each other, resulting in damage to tissue and underlying bone causing painful joint symptoms. Osteoarthritis is most common form of arthritis and the major cause of disability in older adults. Grinding sensation with movement (crepitus), often accompanied by pain. It most often affects spine, fingers, thumbs, hips, knees, or toes.
