A disease that paralysis one side of the face mostly resulting from dysfunction of cranial (facial) nerve causing unable to control facial muscles of the affected side. A person who has Bell’s palsy cannot wrinkle the forehead or close the eye. The mouth sags on one side. With effort, the victim can move facial muscles on healthy side, but the face is distorted because muscles on the other side cannot be moved.
The symptoms of Bell’s palsy appear suddenly in most cases. The victim may feel some pain for one or two days before they occur. The fact remains that paralysis itself is painless in most of the cases, but if there is a feeling of dull pain that is characterized dominant energy of humidity, as pain is caused by the obstruction in flow of the qi or blood. As insufficient of the blood, qi can cause soreness in muscles, and dampness may cause heaviness.
