Liver function is to promote free flow of vital energy dominates tendons and open into the eye. Liver’s vital energy stagnation and emotions per energy concept of TriOrigin, emotional disorders may be associated with several different patterns of disharmony; however, anger, irritability, and frustration are all signs that energy is not flowing smoothly, properly. Liver is responsible for smooth flow of energy (life force) throughout body and for smoothness of our emotions too. When liver’s function of moving energy considered to be as wind and with new research it’s coldness, if disrupted then can become stuck, referred as liver energy stagnation. Stagnation is one of most common patterns of disharmony observed in patients. In addition to irritability and moodiness, changes of liver mainly manifest themselves in dysfunctions of liver in storing blood and in promoting free flow of energy, and in disorders of the tendons.
Liver connecting channels: Be the source of Qi for all organs and a variety of functions that include, but not limited to
- filtering toxic materials which can damage body
- making certain amino acids, which is important for production of protein
- processing of carbohydrates, protein and fats
- producing most of cholesterol in body
- producing substances that break down fats
- manufacturing urea, main substance of urine
- storing of glucose and certain vitamins
- synthesizing proteins
- lipid metabolism~ -cholesterol synthesis, -lipogenesis, production of triglycerides
Move your Qi! Liver is responsible for smooth flowing of Qi (life force) throughout body. When liver functions smoothly, physical and emotional activity throughout body also runs smoothly. So, for optimum health, move your Qi!
Stretch; Liver control tendons. Per Oriental medicine, liver stores blood during periods of rest and then releases it to tendons in times of activity, maintaining tendon health and flexibility. Incorporate a morning stretch into your routine. Try spiral yoga or Tai qi.
Eye exercises; Liver opens into eyes. Although all organs have some connection to health of eyes, and liver is connected to proper eye function. Remember to take breaks when looking at a computer monitor for extended periods of time and do eye exercises.
Eat green; Green is color of liver. Eating young plants – fresh, leafy greens, sprouts, and immature cereal grasses can improve liver’s overall functions and aide in movement of qi.
Try something sour; Foods and drinks with sour tastes are thought to stimulate liver’s qi. Put lemon slices in your drinking water, use vinegar and olive oil for your salad dressing and garnish your sandwich with a slice of dill pickle.
Do more outdoor activities; Outside air helps liver qi flow. If you have been feeling irritable, find an outdoor activity to smooth out that liver qi stagnation. Try hiking or take up golf.
Enjoy milk thistle tea; Milk thistle helps protect liver cells from incoming toxins and encourages liver to cleanse itself of damaging substances, such as alcohol, medications, pesticides, environmental toxins, and even heavy metals such as mercury.
Syndrome is often due to mental irritation which impairs function of liver in promoting free flow of qi and results in stagnation of liver energy, leading to retardation of energy circulation thus presenting mental depression, irritability, distending pain in coastal and hypochondriac regions, breasts, stuffiness in chest and sighing. Transverse invasion of spleen and stomach by liver energy produces epigastric and abdominal distension and pain, poor appetite, belching. Retardation of energy circulation allows damp to collect and phlegm may be formed; phlegm and energy may accumulate in throat. Affected by dysfunction of energy, circulation of both energy and blood is retarded and disharmony of conception vessel meridians may result. This can cause irregular menstruation and dysmenorrhea. Long standing obstruction of liver energy, leading to stagnation of energy and blood, may elicit palpable masses, accompanied by pricking pain in coastal and hypochondriac regions, a purple tongue or a tongue with purplish spots and a string taunt pulse. The blood circulation relies upon propelling function of energy. Although heart and lung play main role in circulation of energy, blood and function of liver in maintaining free flow of energy is also needed to prevent stagnations of energy and blood. Liver stores blood and its meridian ascend to connect with eyes, so liver energy is in communication with eyes. Whether liver function is normal or not often reflects on eye. Deficiency of yin and blood of liver may lead to dryness of eyes, blurred vision or even night blindness. Wind heat in liver meridian may give rise to redness, swelling and pain in eyes.
As, TriOrigin is component of Onnuri, and involves inserting micro metal needles into specific ‘correspondence points’ or ‘TriOrigin joints’ or meridians located on miniature form of body reflects on hands, connecting energetically with internal organs. Theory is that inserting needles stimulates these ‘energy points’ and unblocks natural flow of light energy (qi or chi) through meridians, six or eight ki. Blocked qi is thought to cause disease. Unblocking qi allows body to heal itself. Scientific evidence: one theory suggests needling encourages release of endorphins natural painkiller produced by brain) and sets off an inflammatory response that allows body to heal itself. Another theory is that acupuncture has a powerful effect on mind, which may also help to activate body’s pain-relieving mechanisms. Remission of disease can be achieved, and medicaments simultaneously be reduced or eliminated altogether. It provides maximum benefits without any side effects associated with many of the approaches of conventional medicine.
